High-Volume Multi-Channel Order Processing Platform
Processing 2,000+ orders daily across 8 sales channels required 15 hours of manual reconciliation
Context
A wholesale distributor operating across B2B e-commerce, direct sales, and marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. Processing 2,000-3,500 orders per day with 45,000 active SKUs. Existing setup used separate order entry systems for each channel, manual Excel reconciliation, and warehouse staff pulling orders from different systems. Order processing bottlenecked at 500 orders per day, requiring 15-20 hours of manual work to handle daily volume.
The Real Problem
The core issue was data fragmentation across channels. Each sales channel maintained separate order systems with different data formats, status codes, and update frequencies. Off-the-shelf order management platforms assumed single-channel or simple multi-channel workflows. When orders from 8 channels arrived simultaneously, staff had to manually check each system, copy data to Excel, reconcile duplicates, and manually route orders to warehouse. API limitations in marketplace integrations meant real-time sync was impossible. Legacy warehouse system couldn't handle multi-channel order routing. Budget constraints ruled out enterprise platforms like Oracle or SAP. Data quality issues—incomplete addresses, missing product codes, inconsistent pricing—required manual intervention on 30% of orders. Time constraints: orders needed processing within 4 hours during business hours, but manual process took 15 hours.
